THE CATECHISM OF POPE PIUS X & ON MODERNISM

THE CATECHISM OF POPE PIUS X

Q: Where are the members of the Church to be found?

A: The members of the Church are found partly in heaven, forming the Church Triumphant; partly in purgatory, forming the Church Suffering; partly on earth, forming the Church Militant.

Pope Pius X On Modernism

Despite a relatively hard reputation Pope Pius X was in reality an extremely kind man, and Pope, who was born poor and who said that he wanted to "die poor". The video contains a talk concerning Pope Pius X and modernism.

PENTECOST

PENTECOST
.

'Moments ago these were frightened men who gathered only behind locked doors, in secrecy. They were huddled together in fear. But now they go forth to the crowds and boldly proclaim Christ. They have gone from fear to faith, from cowardice to courage, from terror to testimony'.

THE CROWNING OF MARY QUEEN OF HEAVEN

THE CROWNING OF MARY
QUEEN OF HEAVEN

By his encyclical Ad Caeli Reginam, Pope Pius XII, recognising traditional precedents, proclaimed the "Queenship of Mary". While May devotions may differ in various countries, the Marian title Queen of May exists identically in several countries as manifested in Marian songs such as:

Hail Virgin, dearest Mary! Our lovely Queen of May! O spotless, blessed Lady, Our lovely Queen of May. Your children, humbly bending, Surround your shrine ...

O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today!
Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May.
O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today,
Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May.

GOD OR ATHEISM
WHICH IS MORE RATIONAL?

An excellent 5 minute university module video which encorporates St. Thomas Aquinas' theological proofs of the existence of God.

"The conclusion that God exists doesn't require faith. Atheism requires faith. It requires faith to believe in everything coming from nothing. It takes only reason to believe in everything coming from God."

MONSIGNOR GUIDO MARINI

MONSIGNOR GUIDO MARINI
MASTER OF PAPAL CEREMONIES
.
All Catholics try to offer up the best they have to God, and Monsignor Guido Marini is a man who has done this in abundance through the liturgy.
.

Guido Marini rejected all watered down liturgy and returned traditional elements of the church's liturgical history to the papal Masses and other liturgical celebrations.

Those who disagree with him (and Pope Benedict) forget that when the curtain was torn in two in the temple we were all given 'access' to God, but God never gave anyone permission to strip down the sanctuary.

In a speech given in January 2010 Marini supported calls in the church for a "reform of the reform" of liturgy. He said during the talk, "For some years now, several voices have been heard within church circles talking about the necessity of a new liturgical renewal,". He said that we can move towards the authentic spirit of the liturgy and its celebration.

Guido Marini has pro-actively engaged with the following themes:

The proper orientation in the liturgy
The primacy of Gregorian chant and Renaissance polyphony as a "permanent criterion" for sacred music
Receiving communion kneeling and upon the tongue
The hermeneutic of continuity
Silence

He determined that the papal altar should maintain its traditional formation with seven ornate candles and a central ornate crucifix and that the pope should use of the traditional papal staff (the Ferula Staff, made for Pope Pius IX).

He also made decisions about the use of papal vestments (either Roman style or Gothic style) at Mass and even the size of the Pope's pallium at Mass.

Having once been an altar server I am fascinated by his story. All altar servers across the land should look to him as a role model. He now even has fan pages on Facebook & Twitter. Check them out.
